Description of the trip
After arriving in the parking lot, we are ready to embark on today's trip on foot to Hansbu on Hardangervidda. The 3.5 mile ride takes approx. 7 hours, so it's important to start as early as possible. Before the trip, Nils takes a final check to make sure everyone has packed the bags in relation to the agreed package list.
The terrain is varied and hilly, but does not present the major challenges beyond the actual distance to the cabin. Although this is a full day trip, we take plenty of time to stop by to bring some lunch and the two meals that Nils prepares for the packed kitchen.
Once you arrive, it is good to remove your backpacks and fire up the stove.
Over the next 3 days, Nils will set up various tours where you will have plenty of time to experience the diverse wildlife up close. If you do not see the wild reindeer directly from the cabin windows then you will probably encounter a flock or two. Here there are many streams and fine fishing waters, which are well suited for a small break or maybe one will try the fishing luck. Surely nothing tastes better than my own trout for lunch. For those who are authorized to do so, it will also be possible to hunt, within the laws and regulations that apply to this. Vida's magnificent rolling landscape provides tranquility and peace of mind, while a positive energy flows on and recharges the body's battery.
Being on tour with Nils is an exercise in sustainability, something that the reasonably newly built and authentic cabin carries. Here are arrangements for electricity via a solar panel while the stove, fridge and freezer are powered by gas.
After 3 days of replenishing spectacular nature experiences peace and quiet, it is time to embark on the trip back.
Included in the price
Accommodation in authentic cottage. All meals, where one also participates in the preparation itself. Hire of fishing equipment. Drinks for lunch and dinner are not included.
Tailor your own tour
The tour described here is only a suggestion for a current trip. From experience there are many different wishes with regard to activities and experiences, and how one wishes to emphasize these. Therefore, I would be happy to assist in organizing a trip that suits their wishes and needs.
Alternative access
Hansbu is peacefully located on Hardangervidda. This also makes it a normal day trip on foot or ski from parking until one arrives at the cabin. The terrain is fine and easily accessible on foot or skiing. In some cases, however, it may be possible to use snowmobiles in winter, which is considerably shorter. Hardangervidda is a national park, so there are strict restrictions on the use of motorized traffic. Therefore, permission must always be obtained if snowmobiles are to be used, and thus we have no opportunity to provide guarantees for this type of traffic.
Weather conditions
Weather is something we must surely deal with at Hardangervidda, and it can be both whimsical and demanding. All our guests must therefore be prepared for the day trips to and from the cabin, and the day activities are organized according to how the weather and weather forecasts are at all times. Therefore, there may be necessary changes to the description and activities.
