About Hansbu at Hardangervidda

Right in the heart of Hardangervidda lies Hansbu, the place which, back to 1830, was used for the stealing of the people of Hardanger. The cabin Nilsabu was first built in 1942 as a hunting and fishing lodge. In 2017, a brand new cabin was built on site. The cabin has a system for electricity via a solar panel, as well as a stove, refrigerator and gas freezer.

 

Here are great fishing lakes right outside the door, and if you are lucky you can enjoy breakfast and watch the reindeer right outside the cabin.

 

Hansbu is really the place where you find peace and joy. Here nature is in all its splendor, and you can both fish and hunt, or just enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Here you can experience temperatures above 30 degrees in summer and more than -30 degrees in winter.

The possibilities are many, but you have to be well prepared for what awaits. There is about 3.5 miles to go in the summer and 4.5 miles in the winter.

 

The scenery can be beautiful and comfortable, but when it gets raining you have to be well prepared. Nature shows no mercy when it really comes on! That is when it is good to arrive at Nilsabu, fire up the stove and make a proper dinner. Then one can look out the window and let the silence subside.
