About Tarebu on Jæren

 

Jæren - high skies, wide horizon and endless sea, an ever-changing weather and light, long sandy beaches and dunes replaced by pebbles and salmon rivers.

In the middle between the famous and beautiful beaches Borestranden and Orrestranden lies Tarebu. A stone's throw from the mighty North Sea sits the cottage with a unique view of the sea and the horizon towards Great Britain.

The cabin was built with Reve harbor as its nearest neighbor, and has served as a recreation and important lookout point in many severe autumn and winter storms.

 

In 2020, the old cabin was demolished, and a new cabin was completed in February 2021. With the recognition of having the tough North Sea "right in the woods", emphasis has been placed on the cabin being functional and cozy regardless of the weather. Although the sea is white and the waves crash against the beach stones, it has a full panoramic view through the large windows.

With its high sky and special light, it is not just stormy days that make Tarebu so special. With its wide horizon over endless seas, and ever-changing weather and light, this is the place for true peace of mind. With a focused eye and a good cup of coffee, one will constantly make new discoveries. Perhaps one is so lucky to be visited by a sea eagle hunting in the shoreline.

Tarebu is also strategically located on Jæren, where both Sola Airport and the 4 largest cities in Sør Rogaland are within easy reach. It is thus quite possible to see most of the sights with the cabin as a starting point.

​

In recent years, wave surfing has also become very popular on Jæren, and one of the best and most stable places for this is only a few hundred meters from the cabin.
